We often struggle with what kind of hot runner nozzle to choose for bottle preform molds. In fact, factors that affect the selection of hot runner nozzles for bottle preform molds include plastic raw materials, product quality, nozzles, molds, cycle times, gates, runners, temperature controllers, injection molding machine performance, and product design. After enterprises have a precise understanding and grasp of these, they can choose suitable hot runner nozzles for preform molds.


1. Plastic raw materials

Different plastic raw materials have different processing variables, which will affect the selection of hot runner systems.


2. The weight of the product

The requirements for hot runner are completely different for products of different weights.


3. Nozzle

Nozzles can generally be distinguished by size, temperature distribution, physical characteristics, materials used (copper, steel, etc.), as well as the difficulty and price of maintenance.


4. Mold

What is the number of cavities like? What is the distribution distance of nozzles? What kind of materials are processed? Wait, these are all mold elements related to the selection of hot runner systems.


5. Cycle period

Rapid production cycles mean higher requirements for nozzles. For example, nozzles need to accurately transfer heat and be durable.

The use of hot runner systems avoids the generation of material handles, thereby saving raw materials and eliminating the need for manual, robotic, or other methods to remove material handles in the past.


8. Temperature control

Each nozzle must be connected to a relatively complex temperature controller.


9. Performance of injection molding machine

Capable of installing molds of a given size, providing sufficient clamping force, operating according to cycle time requirements, plasticizing sufficient materials, and so on.
